As its name indicates, Pre K is a preparation for kindergarten, which in some states like Virginia is necessary. By law, five-year-old children, on or before September 30, should be enrolled in kindergarten. In that case, the year Pre K starts at around four years old.

Age-related factors in beginning Pre K

By all means, some cases exempt some children from the standard route. It can be about learning disabilities or chronic illnesses that affect the student’s life at school. The usual, though, is the age of the child before the start of a school year. Some students turn four only two or more months after the first day of class. Thus, they are a bit younger compared to their classmates. In this case, most parents and schools decide to wait for a year before enrolling the kids.

On the other hand, it is also imperative to consider whether the child is eager for schooling. In general, Pre-K is preparing pupils for a more structured setup such as kindergarten and higher education. However, before these goals materialize, the pupils should be acceptable to this type of learning. It is excellent they should be receptive to doing a blend of class activities where they are introduced to critical subjects gradually.

Therefore, even for Pre K class, it is necessary to assess how ready a child is to be part of it. For example, awkwardness to interact with other pupils or fear of being far from parents may call for a bit more time for a child to undergo more training. It can be at home. Another case to check is if young ones may be suitable first to enroll in a preschool program.

The benefits of enrolling your kids at Pre K

Since it is not compulsory, parents have the prerogative to enroll their children in Pre-K. Understandably, there are valid points in these. However, it is also a fact that there are advantages if a child becomes a Pre K pupil.

Pre K establishes essential skills for further learning. Several renowned early childhood educators theorized that in every age or stage, children make some significant developments. They can understand messages and meanings, as well as appreciate art. They can also be assertive to absorb more things in their environment. It is ideal that instead of disregarding, adults should nurture any development in children. Doing it enables kids to make harmonious progress towards their learning and character development. And in a school with educators and care providers, they can receive much-needed help.

In Rainbow Preschool & Child Care, its four-year-old program develops pupils’ problem-solving and communication skills. It also promotes their capacity to do independent learning. These and more also set the stage for their kindergarten schooling.

Pre K can address issues before they become hurdles in learning. Some students can advance to higher-level education and do fine with it. However, in the long run, they may experience difficulties in learning which affect their perspective on the happiness and significance of education. Why does it happen?

A reason for this is because the progress is not gradual. Leaning, overall, is a step-by-step process. If students miss critical stages, they need to fill gaps while working in their new lessons. It is the same with the idea of learning alphabets first before someone can construct sentences and compose essays.
